Natural Embodiment through Wild Connections
Natural Embodiment through Wild Connections Workshop
6-9 March 2025
This 4-day workshop deepens your personal connection with nature. It’s a chance to soften and lean into the living world. A chance to embody your relationship with nature and life, in a way that’s meaningful to you.
Therapists and others who work with people need self-care. And restorative practices are especially important when working with trauma.
Nature & the nervous system
The benefits of time in nature are not only intuitive, but long documented. And the results show that spending time in nature can be a powerful way to heal the wounds of trauma.
Exposure to nature:
- reduces cortisol (your stress hormone)
- increases parasympathetic activity (your “rest and recharge” mode),
- increases alpha wave activity (your calm but alert state),
- which in turn increases serotonin (your ‘feel good’ hormone).
These responses calm and focus the mind, and support trauma healing. Feeling a connection with nature, in particular, grows your psychological resilience. And spending time in nature enhances your connections with people.

Sometimes
if you move carefully
through the forest,
breathing
like the ones
in the old stories,
who could cross
a shimmering bed of leaves
without a sound,
you come to a place
whose only task
is to trouble you
with tiny
but frightening requests,
conceived out of nowhere
but in this place
beginning to lead everywhere.
