Feminine Embodiment

Embodying the feminine in a masculine world

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.

~ Mary Oliver

Valuing the feminine in our world

Our world (or to be more specific, the dominant patriarchal paradigm* that pervades the world) doesn’t value the feminine. And whether we grow up male or female or some version of either or both, my experience is that we learn very early that to be male is to be superior and to be female is to be nice, look nice and behave submissively. At least that’s what I learned, and I know I’m not alone.

I had no respect for the feminine and didn’t see any value in it. I had spent my teenage and early twenties aspiring to be the best man-in-a-woman’s-body I could be. I did engineering because it was the most masculine profession possible. I finished university despondent, confused and utterly lost.

I’m deeply passionate about supporting women to embody the feminine in a world that values the masculine. Because it’s been so denied and shamed, the feminine aspect in most of us is incredibly vulnerable. For this reason it needs protection, care and nurturing. Creating physical and psychological environments of safety is important to me and forms part of the work to support feminine embodiment and empowerment.

I believe you deserve to be heard and I believe you have something valuable to say.

I work with women in transition, women in search of their feminine, women who know there’s something else available for them, and men who want to understand the feminine.

If any part of this speaks to you pick up the phone and call me. We’ll soon discover if working together is right for you.

* By the dominant patriarchal paradigm I do not mean men. I mean the patriarchal culture we live in. There are many wonderful and courageous men in the world who don’t shy away from the feminine and are dedicated to protecting it. I’ve been lucky enough to know some of them.
